Will permanent current consumption harm laptop?

Hello, since my laptop's ssd is far lower then I need (120 GB), I keep my external disk permanently plugged in. I know 150 mA is enough to power up this external disk but will this permanent current consumption harm my motherboard? (south bridge chip)

150 mA via USB is for the chipset already hard stress if always used too long, so for sure better with an extra power supply. But uses the 150 mA only when the disk is running, so not parked.
