I tried Malwarebytes 3 wow it sucks! I got blue screens when scanning and just about doing anything. I uninstalled it and put back on version 2.2.1.1043 and everything is back to normal. Do not use v3 unless you like BSODS.

I would venture to say that is your system.  I have it running on 8 computers with no problems at all.  Usually BSODs are in someway related to EBCAC, TSTO, Layer 8, Code 18, EEOC, CBE, or ESO.

  • 2 weeks later...

Are the keys for this 3.0.6.1469 Lifetime? What about the Repack NR posted? I tried a few that were posted but it says they are blocked. I suppose that any that are posted without using a keygen are blocked. However, any keygen I try to download just gives me junk when I try to download. I am starting to think I will let it expire in 14 days and only run it on demand. I does not like any site I go to anyway. Worse than Norton!

I had been using Malwarebytes v2 for ages and decided to try v 3.0.6.1469. I uninstalled the old version, rebooted, installed v3.0.6.1469 as per the instructions in URET's keygen, rebooted and it showed version v3 as Free version. I tried various serials but couldn't get it to be the Premium version. I uninstalled with the Mbam clean up tool, rebooted and reinstalled...still no success. I spent last night and half of today repeating the process carefully trying to get it. Finally I closed v3 and generated a few serials from URET's keygen and tried to activate it with them. The first serial didn't work but the second one changed it to Premium....but it can't update. I get the message "unable to connect to update server". I did a scan, which worked, but still no automatic updates. I checked the settings and they're fine..I have put hosts file in Exclusions. I downloaded the manual update file (MBam rules) from Malwarebytes and ran it...but it still shows the database as out of date and still shows "unable to connect to update server". I noticed that the "ransomware protection" is unavailable...although as I said the version shows as Premium.

I don't want to start from scratch uninstalling-rebooting-installing-rebooting etc etc again. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?...please don't say "breathing!!":D:D:D

Funkyy.....I don't know if you want to do this..search for Malwarebytes by " Seruno1" when i used this one it was 3.0.4, and loaded with no problem, and then updated to 3.0.5, and then again to 3.0.6 Premium , I never had to do anything just press the update button.I've been using this without any problems.Good luck...If you are using a VPN i would suggest, you turn it off while installing.

Thanks rpeachtree, I think I saw that version by Seruno1 somewhere on nsane last night while I was banging my head off the wall!! I have installed(uninstalled so many times these last two days that I'm trying not to have to do it all again...but if nothing else works I'll probably try your suggestion. Thanks for taking the time to answer...much appreciated.:)

Right, I found Seruno1's pre-activated version 3.0.6.1469 and followed his instructions to the letter..but it froze my system and I had to switch off and reboot. I tried about 6 times and it just refused to activate..I couldn't even get as far as having the GUI on my screen!! I booted into safe mode and uninstalled it and then restarted in normal mode and tried again and again...each time my computer froze...I was really struggling to find a working solution..I had tried Knowledge's fix, URET's keygen, toolbox 3, pre-activated versions, and I was running out of options. The best I got was a Premium version that wouldn't/couldn't update. I kept getting the same message "unable to connect to update server. check your network connection". Finally I started to read through one of the nsane threads back at v3.0.6.1249 and found a tip by "niosi", God bless him. He said he had had the same problem and he removed "0.0.0.0   sirius.mwbsys.com" from his hosts file and he was able to update. I did as he suggested and voila it worked. I can now update the data base. Everything seems normal at the moment..the only thing is that ransomware protection shows as "unavailable" But at least (at last!!!!) I have a working Premium v3.0.6.1469 at the moment. I'll try and find out about the ransomeware protection another day...my head is bursting!!! lol

So a great big thank you to niosi...gracias amigo!!!:P:P:P

Just found this on a Malwarebytes forum:-

January 25, 2017

•   If you are running an earlier Alpha or Beta, and your upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0.6 fails for any reason, simply uninstall the earlier version and then reinstall new version.
•   There is an issue with imaging programs (such as Macrium Reflect) where large artifact files are left System Volume Information file if a backup is created with anti-ransomware protection enabled.
•   Enhancements continue to be made to overall Memory and CPU usage and will be released subsequently.
•   For computers left idle in certain circumstances, scans can appear to be stuck on Heuristics Analysis when it has actually finished (Open and close the GUI for workaround).
•   In XP/Vista Malwarebytes 3.0 does not support Ransomware Protection.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D     THAT'S ME FOLKS!!!!!!
•   If WMI services are off or disabled, the user will see a “failure to connect to service” error after installing.
•   In Spanish and some other few languages the user will not be able to edit or add a scheduled scan.
•   New scans don't reset "Threats Quarantined" counter on Scan Summary page.
•   When upgrading from 2.2.1 Managed Applications (Anti-Exploit) settings are not carried over but instead all Advanced Settings will be reset to the current defaults.
•   Any User Access Policy created in MBAM 2.x is not migrated when upgrading from MBAM 2.x to Malwarebytes 3.0; a new policy will have to be created.

Thanks rpeachtree...I had a look at the link you posted. I'll wait until I change from Win XP to Win 7 and install the most stable Malwarebytes 3 that is available with ransomware protection inbuilt.

Meanwhile, in the early hours of this morning I noticed that my recently "successfully" installed Malwarebytes 3.0.6.1469 had failed to update the database automatically (I had it set for hourly updates), so I clicked "update" and the progress bar started moving but after a short time it stopped and it hadn't updated. I tried several times but the result was the same. Since it was so late I switched off the computer and went to bed. Now at 2:15 pm I put my computer on and Malwarebytes was still showing that it hadn't updated. I clicked update and this time it was successful. I'll just have to keep monitoring it to see how it performs. It might just be buggy. I did notice that in the last scheduled scan report it showed that rootkit scan was disabled...but I have it set "on" and it showed up as "on" in the first two scan reports. It's a very frustrating program to install and get running as you want, in fact it's a pain in the donkey.:D:D:D

I tried many keys

I'm not sure the FFF 1.50 keygen even works directly on version 3.x...

Try this one instead:

According to URET.nfo:

1: Uninstall all MalwareBytes Applications

2: Start Keygen and click on Pre-Activate

3: Install MalwareBytes v3.x

Now, for about a year, you can use only keys, that are registered in the MBAM servers.

Thus the old keygen(s) are pretty useless waste of time.
While you might find, if you are very consistent. The probability is about the same as  million lottery win.

You have to find the real key which is registered but not used.
There was a time when one key was valid for three computers, but typically was used in one computer.
Success testers. Success to all, however, the success is more than a very-very small.

27th Feb 2017...I just uninstalled Malwarebytes v3 because I was getting blue screens with warning that my computer was shut down to avoid damage by a program or hardware. This happened twice on different days. Malwarebytes had returned to its previous behaviour of not updating. Since this is the only software or hardware change that has been done I guess the culprit is Malwarebytes. I'm going to re-install v2 and Anti-exploit. It seems this new Malwarebytes works well for some people but is erratic and unstable for other people....it should work for everyone from XP to Win 10. No other program that I use has caused me the problems and consumed so much time as Malwarebytes v3.:wub::wub:

Hi what is the right way to be able to update the database?

I just added this line to my hosts. 0.0.0.0 keystone.mwbsys.com to avoid from being blacklisted. but it's not updating.

It may take until the update is done. Even other running processes can affect it. Just be patient.

If it does not work in the next few hours, completely uninstall an install again.
