Build 14936 was released and it brings the usual known issues, fixes, as well as a set of new features. However, it was also announced that changes would also be coming to the to Windows Subsystem for Linux in upcoming Windows 10 Insider builds. Dona Sarkar explained the change in a post on the Windows Experience blog. She writes: WSL will install Ubuntu version 16.04 (Xenial) instead of Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty) in an upcoming release. This change will apply to Insiders installing new instances (lxrun.exe /install or first run of bash.exe). Existing instances with Trusty will not be upgraded automatically. Users can upgrade their Trusty image to Xenial using the do-release-upgrade command. Full WSL release notes can be found here. For those who did not know, The Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is a new Windows 10 feature that enables you to run native Linux command-line tools directly on Windows, alongside your traditional Windows desktop and modern store apps.
