Sandisk is now part of Western Digital but the card will be sold under the Sandisk Extreme Pro sub-label. Under the same label Sandisk announced a 512GB SDXC memory card at the same trade fair in 2014. The company needed 2 years to double the capacity.

The press release doesn’t provide much information, but according to AnandTech the card is either using 256 Gbit 48 layer BiCS 3D NAND which Sandisk jointly developed with Toshiba or a newer version of this memory.

Sandisk has not provided any pricing information, also a release date is unknown.
