Maybe it's a HDD failure, sure.

Got rid of 3x2TB external hds and replaced with 1x10TB internal hd. Boot speed is a whole minute faster.

External and USB are dead slow anyway, so.....

That is same as comparing Ethernet cable vs WiFi shit. :coolwink:

Curious on this statement, both EXTERNALS and USB are dead, I think you'll find both are doing very well..

If your booting on a USB 2.0 cable with a slow hd (say 5200 rpm) then yes boot up will be slower, booting with a USB3.0 7200rpm disk will still be slower than plugging directly into the motherboard.

simple answer to the first question is YES..

I have 3 x 2 tb externals and my startup is slow... <have to be external. so internal space.

well over the 1 min range.. about 73seconds..

i also have 2 x 3tb and 2 1.5tb, 1 x 1tb and a dvd burner internals.. i only have 6 sata connections on my motherboard all used..

Yes, you're adding an extra startup process.

It's better to wait until after booting Windows to connect an external HDD.

just go into the bios and remove usb devices from boot menu and exit and save changes.
