Windows insiders are expected to receive new Windows 10 builds sometime very soon, most likely this or next week, as the company is already evaluating some internal candidates for both PC and mobile.

There’s no information regarding the version of this new build, but Gabe Aul, head of the Insider effort, has confirmed in a short tweet that candidates already exist in internal rings, suggesting that a release could take place sometime in the next few days.

Microsoft compiles new builds internally every day, but in order to receive the green light for insiders, they first have to get through the internal rings too, so the release of these new versions depends on the bugs the company finds and the overall stability.

For the moment, it’s not yet clear whether the next build would be focused on fixing bugs or would also bring new features. However, given the fact that we’re just a couple of months away from the moment when the Anniversary Update should see daylight, expect the number of new goodies to drop as the focus switches to improving performance.

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Microsoft’s Anniversary Update, often referred to by insiders and Microsoft watchers as Windows 10 Redstone, is projected to launch in the summer, most likely in July, with a long list of improvements for both PCs and mobile devices.

Microsoft Edge will be one of the apps getting lots of updates, starting with small tweaks here and there, such as swipe gesture navigation support, and ending with extensions. The Action Center will be revamped too, and so will be the Start menu, which will receive some usability improvements putting the apps at the core of everything.

But at the same time, the Start menu will also show more app suggestions, often called “ads,” as Microsoft claims that it discovered that these recommendations are actually quite helpful for Windows 10 users.

Without a doubt, the arrival of Redstone will be a key moment for Windows 10’s growth, and this is why every single build that the company releases needs to be better than the previous one.
