Wine 1.9.9 was released earlier today as the newest development release for this software to run Windows applications/games on Linux, OS X, and other operating systems.

Wine 1.9.9 has notably continued the trend recently on getting the WineD3D command stream support in a state for merging. It's a huge task and they are making progress little by little each release, but hopefully it will be ready in time for Wine 1.10 this fall. The D3D command stream work is capable of offering much greater performance for gamers relying upon Wine for enjoying Windows-only titles.

Wine 1.9.9 also adds service proxies in their WebServices support, query support for the built-in reg.exe utility, improved support for long URLs in WinInet, and various bug fixes. In total there are 38 known bug-fixes for this development release.
