Microsoft's big Windows 10 Anniversary Update could be launched close to a year after the release of Windows 10 itself. A new report claims Microsoft is targeting a late July release for the free update.

While the company has not explicitly said when it will be released, insiders at the company have acknowledged that the current road map is for the update to be finalized in mid-July. As with all timelines, the release date could change, especially since we are a few months out and road maps are used for guidance and are not always hard dates. Considering that Windows 10 was released on July 29th, it would make sense that the company would release the Anniversary update on or around that date; the 29th is a Friday.

Microsoft first announced the Windows 10 Anniversary Update at Build 2016 in March and that it would be a free update for all current Windows 10 users. Members of the Windows Insider program have been testing a number of features that will be included in the full update with recent preview builds of Windows 10. Microsoft also plans to update the Xbox One at the same time with the update, which will bring Windows Store app to the game console.

I thought that then will be the time to pay to victims damage fee.

No damages, if you read the EULA with your 50x magnifying glass.

I read this a good while back that there anniversary was on July 29th  the same day they said they would no longer give windows 10 away  as a free upgrade  , But the big wigs at Microsoft said that they will discuss if they plain to  make everyone  start paying to upgrade or keep it free longer  when it gets closer  to July 29th that they not made there mind up  and was not sure yet.

Windows 10 adoption growth has slowed each month this year. At the pace of past three months, Windows 10 should account for approximately 26% of DAP's traffic by the end of July. (Other data sources have repeatedly portrayed global adoption of Windows 10 at lower rates than in the U.S.)

Will that match whatever goal Microsoft set when it decided to give away upgrades? Microsoft's not saying, and even if it did, there would be no way to verify any claim.

Some have speculated that Microsoft may extend the free offer to continue to press Windows 10 adoption, the ultimate rationale behind the concept. That's certainly possible: Microsoft has seemingly been flying by the seat of its pants the last year or so, with changes, many of them reversals of decades-long practices, being announced about everything from support to updates. Backtracking on the offer's deadline would be a blip compared to some policies the company has modified since Windows 10's release.

Wes Miller, an analyst at Directions on Microsoft, didn't think Microsoft would do free past July.

If they extend [the free deal] past July, they might as well as extend it forever," Miller said Friday. "The longer Windows 10 is free, the harder it becomes to end it. Microsoft is cognizant of that."

They have only like 3 months  now to make up there mind  . Are they just playing everyone to get as many users as they can and do they plain  to keep on giving it away free to keep getting new users? Or do they plain too charge for the upgrade July 29th and beyond ?  This is the million dollar question . I look for more people to upgrade too it as July 29th comes closer and they won't  have a need to give it away free any longer but maybe im wrong?  But remember  you can  upgrade and roll  back and Microsoft will count you as a windows 10 user anyways but if they make good on there promise of 10 years of updates  you can always reinstall  it as long as you dont change Hardware  its wired to  you're  HW ID .
