Emsisoft Emergency Kit 10

Emsisoft Emergency Kit 10 no longer updates under XP.

There is a hack, if you still have version 10.0.0.5488 installer.

Extract the following files from the \bin folder in installer:

a2cmd.exe
a2emergencykit.exe
a2engine.dll
a2framework.dll
a2update.dll
cleanhlp32.dll
logging.dll
resource.dll
 

Zip them up.

Whenever you need to update Emsisoft Emergency Kit, just unzip these files into the /bin folder of EEK.

Update normally. The files you extracted will be overwritten, and malware defs will be updated.

Done - All scanning functions now work in XP, and engine version is now 10.0.0.6081

No idea how long they will allow the hack. Their excuse for not allowing XP was pretty lame. "it's vulnerable to malware"

Sure. So is Win 7, 8 and 10. That's what anti-malware is all about.
