PPTX file will not open using Double Click

I have a computer that is running Windows XP with Office 2007 Professional. He is having problems only with the Powerpoint files in the office, specifically .pptx files. When you double-click on the file it opens up to a blank presentation. Once that is open if you click open and navigate to the file then it opens correctly.

I have checked the registry and the open/command path is correct. Any other ideas will help. All the others work fine Word, Excel and Outlook.

I would prefer guide below or another methods are proposed from different sources over Internet, but in case the guide from MS Corporation can't handle the problem

https://www.openfiletool.com/pptxopen.html PPTX Open File Tool

There are a number of things you can try to recover it:

1.      Use Slides from Files on the Insert menu.

2.      Locate a TMP file.

3.      Open the presentation in Microsoft Office Word.

4.      Move the file to a different place.

5.      Open the file in a different way.

6.      Use Safe Mode.

7.      Use Damaged Presentations Troubleshooters.

My advice, based on my personal experience: uninstall Office 2007 and install 2010; 2010 supports Windows XP, can be activated as a dream with Office Toolkit.. Office 2010 is better than 2007 and personalizing the menu, if you really want to do it, is a piece of cake.
