The KMPlayer is all in one media player covering various formats. It has an extra feature to play Incomplete/Damaged AVI file, Locked Media Files while downloading or sharing, Compressed Audio Album (zip, rar) and so on. It handles a wide range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots in many ways. The player provides both internal and external filters with a fully controlled environment without grappling with DirectShow merit system. The player can set multifarious audio and video effects, control playback speed and octave, select parts of a video as favorites, do a powerful A-B repeat, remap the keys of remote interface for HTPC including overlay screen controls, change a skin dynamically depending on a media type playing, and many more. It is completely customizable thanks to a wide selection of skins and color schemes.

Thanks to ARMOUR for the update.

Beware!!!

This program is getting worse with every new version. This latest version installs some crap called "KMPFaster" by some shady company called "simplitec" WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT. It was never mentioned during setup. I think I'm gonna move away from this crap for good.

You have been warned.

Just rename the exe installer with a .RAR extension.. and unRAR it...

you can just run kmplayer.exe like a portable...

No extra adware installed in this method

Why bother? Stop using it is the best solution. Potplayer is 100% free and free of junk and plays almost every format known to man...

Oh, and BTW, you don't need to rename anything, you can decompress it directly with 7zip...

Guys, K-Lite Mega is the best choice. :D

wtf???? we are talking about players, not codec packs.

And, again: Why bother? Isn't it easier just using clean software instead of disconnecting internet, blocking w/firewalls and whatnot?

You can use ninite and download aware free installer of Kmplayer but still you should block it with a firewall at least block the call home ips . this will block the ads as well .

Same goes with Potplayer while you cant see the ads they harvest data witch is worse . So it should be blocked with a firewall as well.

If you looking for clean media players use open source ones like MPV ,MPC HC , MPC BE , VLC and SMplayer and there’s more these are really clean .

KMPlayer was good till v2 .

V3 n 4 produce choppy video and has lots of bells and whistles. Which is not required.

I still use VLC v2 and KMPlayer v2.

This combination is unbeatable.

Have yet to try POTPlayer. The name isn't inspiring.

Guys n' Gals, DVDFab Media Player Pro with the free lifetime license giveaway cannot be beat. It's light, superb quality codecs that plays anything you through at it, and smooth as butter.

I'd been using a very old version of JetAudio for my videos, until I updated my ATI drivers to v15.11 a week back and that made J/A stutter and lock during play back a few times. Time to update my video player.. J/A is old (remember FOSI's last J/A release before new codecs were required) but trouble free, but it's just time to update. Took someones word for it to go to KMPlayer, so I did... I installed v4.0.1.5... Not bad, but it took a bit of fine tuning to get what I wanted... Yeah, not bad...

Well, 3 or 4 days ago I made the mistake of playing KMPlayer while I was online and up popped a message about v4.0.2.6 update - Do you want to etc etc..??? Yeah why not... B-I-G Mistake...!!! My firewall went berserk telling me that all manner of exe's were trying to contact some place(s), but wihout thinking I thought it was all for KMPLayer, so allowed them,, again - B-I-G Mstake...!!! It installed Pro PC Cleaner or whatever,, Opera and some other crap program and I soon noticed that my Firefox was suspiciously "Different" in the way it browsed almost immediately, even though I was already online and browsing at the time. Up popped Opera - What the heck...!!! Next PC Pro Cleaner or what ever the heck it was called, which set about telling me that my fine tuned PC was about to suffer some sort of catastrophic failure and that I need to pay something to do something etc etc... What the ^$##& was all this...!!! Pay someone for what..!!! Sniff Sniff, that smells like bullsh*t to me...

I disconnected internet straight away... I looked at Opera and then this Pro PC Cleaner whatever and closed them down... I then opened up Revo Uninstaller Pro and looked at the latest installs and sure enough there were 4 in the past 2 or 3 minutes, including KMPlayer 4.0.2.6, Opera, Pro PC Cleaner and one other program (can't recall the name)...

I immediately unistalled Opera,, PC Pro Cleaner and the other unkown but left KMPlayer there... I spent the next 4 or 5 hours tracking down all the damage that they had all done - Opera disabled all of my Firefox Plugins and Extensions and tried to alter the layout of the main screen,, partially succeeding. No matter what I did, FF would not run right after that,, it was sluggish and confused the way it loaded web pages up... I copied back over the last complete FF file backup (all the settings and profiles and main install folder files), which I had made just the day before. Ahhh much better, yet something was still not right with the way FF ran... I went looking and found a folder in the C:\User\xxx\AppData\Roaming... (Win 7) called 'TNT2User',, and it was put there at the exact same time as the KMP update etc, so it stuck out like the sore thumb and I manually ran the uninstaller,, there was NO uninstall info in Revo Uninstaller Pro or Control Panel,, Yeah, right,,, so I found the manual uninstall string from the *.inf file in that folder, and got rid of it,, but that made FF run weird again... Back to the backup and re-copied it back over... YES... it was now running as well as ever... BACK to square ONE at last. Got rid of the nightmare... What a way to get a simple update for KMP,, Huhhhh...!!!

OK, I did a lot of reading about KMPlayer 4.x.x.x and all the sh*t that is now associated with it... I decided to NEVER live update of KMP ever again (I admit I was simply stupid to ever do that in the first place but I was distracted)... But at least I now have v4.0.2.6. Oh yeah,, but that was not the end of it...

Everything seemed to run well for the rest of the day - phewwwww... All my music and movies ran well, BUT, next morning after I booted up, even though all was going well, I noticed that KMPlayer had taken over ALL of my multimedia files. MP3's were no longer loading up in AIMP and other files had lost their defaults. A quick check in file assocations showed that all of them were now under the claw of KMP. I let out a huge yell of a 4 letter word and others came in to see what had happened, so I had to explain... OK,,, OUT GOES KMPlayer forever. I browsed for another player and after a few hours of comparing I decided on PotPlayer, which seems to run well,, simple but well, although suspiciously looking similarly to KMPlayer in some ways - maybe a copy of it... Anyway, I got rid of KMPlayer for good... Wont miss it either. Good player gone bad maybe... I don't know,, don't care,, it's gone... I then put all the file associations back to the correct settings and re-assigned the personalized icons etc I had for them and an hour or so later I was "back" to a reasonably happy state... AND, it's been going well for the last few days...

Fingers still crossed...

BEWARE of KMPlayer v4.0.2.6 - B E W A R E...!!!

It or they have evil on their minds...

Potplayer is made by the original author of KMP, that's why you think they look similar.

Potplayer is lightyears ahead of KrapMP.

It's free, no ads, plays just about ANYTHING, doesn't take over ALL your file associations, etc.

A clear winner.

Nether is a clear winner in my book both are you’re basic propriety windows software with spyware. KMPlayer called home even before Pandora bought out KMplayer Even When it was made by the developer of PotPlayer . I used Potplayer since way back there and I never understood how much data they was collecting before it came out Global and they wrote a English ELUA I just block everything that don’t need too call out with a firewall in windows for many years . A good habit I picked from my mates on warez boards . When you call one worse than the other its the pot calling the kettle black.

Always nice to keep up with things. Thanks for that info - no wonder it looked so similar, well at least the preferences menus and options etc did anyway.. For a minute I thought it was 'Deja vu' or 'Out of the frying pan and into the fire' as I was setting it up, so you can understand the hair on the back of my neck standing up for a while, but it ran very sweetly so it can stay for a while... I just WONT play online ever again. Don't even know why I did so the other day as that is a major rule of mine that I broke. Naughty me,, I must practise what I preach...

Cheers

Al
