The Media Creation Tool no longer works for TH2

Microsoft pulled the plug on Windows 10 November Update ISO download links and made the new version available exclusively via Windows Update for no clear reason, with some speculating that it’s because of bugs found in the last couple of weeks.

As a result, Microsoft is believed to be holding back the release of the November Update via Windows Update too, at least until it fixes the found issues, and claiming that users are getting it in stages is the best cover while the company’s trying to isolate the problems.

“It’s a phased approach”

And in an updated statement sent to us by a Microsoft spokesperson, Redmond guarantees that users should start seeing the November Update in Windows Update very soon, but says nothing about any possible issue that might exist in the build.

“The MCT download cannot be used to update Windows 10 PCs to the November update. The November update will be available via Windows Update. If you don’t see the November update yet, you will see it soon as it is rolling out in a phased approach,” the spokesperson said.

As for the bugs that have recently been discovered in the November Update and which are believed to be the cause of this sudden decision that Microsoft made the last weekend, they say all problems are investigated as users send feedback about them.

“Part of delivering Windows as a service means we can constantly learn and adjust for the best customer experience. Windows Update is the preferred way for our customers to receive updates. We look into any issues our customers report and appreciate their feedback,” the statement continues.

In the meantime, ways to download your own Windows 10 Threshold 2 ISO still exist and even if Microsoft removes these files from its servers completely, it’s not that hard to find them if you know where to look.
