There still are bugs to fix, Insider chief explained

Microsoft promised to release new Windows 10 builds for both PCs and mobile after the October 6 event and while everyone expected this to happen sometime this week, it turns out that Redmond needs more time to deal with the bugs it found at the last minute.

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explained on Twitter that the Windows development team has to look into some issues and when fixes are ready, the build should become available for everyone.

There's no specific timing right now, but it's now pretty clear that new Windows 10 builds for both PCs and mobile won't get the green light this week, so expect them in a few days.

“No build tomorrow, we have a new build with the reliability fixes going into Fast ring, so will take a few days to evaluate,” Aul explained. “It has many good fixes, but the crash rate is higher across device range so doesn't meet our release bar,” he added when discussing about the build that's currently tested internally in the fast ring.

It's like a machine with moving parts

As far as the bugs that are holding back the release, Aul pointed out that it's hard not to come across issues because every time the company introduces a new feature, something could be broken.

“Changes aren't purely additive. When you change code to add features or fix something, that code change can have other impacts. Think of it like a machine with millions of moving parts. Change one, and it can affect another part far away via connected parts,” he explained.

So there you go, new Windows 10 builds are now expected to arrive next week, so in case you were preparing your devices for them, you might certainly be disappointed. On the other hand, next week's going to be an exciting and busy one at the same time for both Microsoft and its testers, but it's not yet clear if the company wants to release the PC and the mobile versions together.
