Three weeks ago, Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella and Windows chief Terry Myerson took the 2015 ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and nominated every one of the millions of people who have been testing Windows 10 in recent months to be next in line to take the challenge. With their nomination, the two execs also revealed that the Windows Insider program had grown to over six million people.

Today, Microsoft has been talking up Windows 10 at the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, where it's been showcasing some of the new devices on the way from its hardware partners. And in its keynote this afternoon, Microsoft revealed that there are now seven million people on the Windows Insider program.

That means that Microsoft has added over a million new Insiders in just 24 days, following its launch of Windows 10 just over a month ago. Microsoft said last week that over 75 million PCs had been upgraded to Windows 10 so far - but sadly, it didn't provide an updated figure today.

It's likely that Microsoft will wait to provide an update on its upgrade numbers when it hits its next milestone - and reading between the lines, that probably means that it hasn't yet reached 100 million installations.

Microsoft can say, whatever wants. It is an uncontrollable mess.

What does how many insiders they have got to do with it being a mess ? they grabbed a million more who went ahead installed the preview who had installed stable and seen it was still beta that's not shocking.

Windows 7 had 8 million testers and didn't even become stable really tell SP1 was released in 2011. Also they was less people on the internet in 2009 :P

seven million (7,000,000) windows alpha then beta testers out there and they still don't find all the problems and it's the quickest service pack ever.
