Microsoft Will Release Windows 10 Update Info, But Not for All Users

Businesses could get access to update change logs

If you’re a Windows 10 user already, you probably noticed that the updates that Microsoft is rolling out for the operating system these days come with no change logs, or if any release notes are available, they are incredibly vague.

Needless to say, many users are pretty disappointed with all the secrecy around these updates and in a statement released recently, the company expressed no intention to provide change logs for the updates it ships for Windows 10.

The reason is as simple as it could be; the company only wants to detail big updates, so cumulative updates and small patches will get no change logs at all.

But it appears that this strategy will only be used for consumers.

Businesses will get change logs

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Jim Alkove said during a company meeting with journalists at the headquarters in Redmond that change logs would be provided, but only for consumers.

This means that only those running Windows 10 Enterprise could get access to these release notes and while this could make sense at some level, it’s certainly disappointed news for the millions consumers who have already installed the new operating system.

In essence, there’s no doubt that enterprise users need to know what’s in every single update, but so do consumers, especially because these patches could bring changes in terms of performance and built-in OS features. In the case of enterprises, they might want to delay installation, and that’s why Microsoft plans to provide them with change logs.

Windows 10 Home users get all updates automatically installed on their PCs, so no matter if they have release notes or not, they still receive every single patch that Microsoft ships. But it’s all just a communications issue, so Microsoft might want to rethink this strategy if it really wants to continue working closely with its consumers (who after all tested Windows 10 during this whole time).

That's because were just beta testers we got it for free . If we paid a 100 or 200 dollars then they would still publish it to home users . Welcome to high cost of getting stuff for free . M$ is on hard times right laying off workers left and right and the only people that be buying windows is business or if you buy a new OEM with it on it.. they want be able to sell any keys to home users much tell the summer of 2017 that's if anyone even buys them then. ;)

Its like some ppl love their car. They feel it, they know it and can tell if somethings wrong.

Im like that with pcs and I know u all are too.So dammit!! I want to know what an update does.

Because of Microsoft's high handed attitude toward getting telemetry from all versions of Windows, I turned updates off and disabled the service. No more windows updates. I will trust my firewalls and other safeguards to keep me safe without their lousy updates. I have advised all my friends and business contacts to do likewise. I will keep windows 7 on all my PCs till I die.

Normally if they dont want to release changelog's it means there trying to hide something. What if they put a backdoor in one of the updates or the government asked them to release a update and the update is programmed to send information about the user and there computer to the government for eavesdropping. I dont like this its irresponsible on microsofts part..

any new pc sold after the free time is up will come with windows 10 preloaded... not many people will want linux...that is a dead horse already flogged 10 times over(pardon the pun) and anyone foolish enough to be running XP or windows 7 will deserve the viruses and bad people gaining access to their systems... windows 10 is in sort of a constant beta form and will continue to be improved whenever they can do so... and it pretty friggen stable as it stands right now or there would actually be quite legitimate beefs all over the net about how crappy it is...not just your made up and wishful thinking stuff you have constantly been passing off as legitimate problems

You say I hate Microsoft no i dont hate no one but im no fan of people who get rich from collecting peoples info even there doing it in windows 7 and 8 now were they charged for . Whether you buy a computer with windows on it or buy a key its included in the price. Windows 10 will only be free one year and still after its not free anymore you will be buying adware . Because they not been able to sell no windows since Windows 7 they give you a beta version of windows packed full of spyware in the name of free . That's a bad business model no matter how much you try to sugar coat it .
