Microsoft is expected to push Windows 10 to RTM this week

Windows 10 will launch on July 29 for users worldwide, but three weeks ahead of this key moment for Microsoft, there’s one big enigma: when is the new operating system supposed to reach RTM and will it be ready for prime time at the end of the month?

Official details are missing right now, but if we are to trust information that has reached the web through unofficial channels in the past few weeks, Windows 10 is expected to reach RTM sometime this week, with some sources pointing to July 9 as the target date.

This way, Microsoft would have around 20 days to provide OEMs with the final version of the operating system and prepare it for the big launch on July 29.

First candidate of Windows 10 RTM?

A recent update on BuildFeed shows a new Windows 10 build 10176 that’s part of the th1 branch and that, according to some sources, could be the one bringing us

the RTM. If this is true, build 10176 could be the very first candidate for RTM, but we should obviously expect some others before work on the final version is indeed complete.

As far as insiders are concerned, Windows 10 build 10162 might be the last version that they get before RTM, especially because Microsoft is working to make this one available for slow ring users as well. And yet, there are some signs that more builds would come, so nothing’s certain right now.

As you can see, there are plenty of unknown details at this point, so don’t take anything for granted for the time being. One thing is for sure, though: Windows 10 is almost here, and as we get closer to the official July 29 release date, more information on RTM is likely to emerge.
