Microsoft continues work on Windows 10 preview, and the company is giving the final touches to a new version that should get the go-ahead in the coming days.

While Microsoft has always refused to provide specific release dates for technical previews, pretty much because bugs could make it miss a specific deadline, it now seems that build 10120 is ready for prime time and could be shipped to insiders in the coming days.

Russian leaker WZor has revealed today that Windows 10 build 10120 is available internally at Microsoft, which is usually the main step before rolling out a new version of the preview for users.

The next Windows 10 preview builds won’t bring any major improvements over the existing versions, but 10120 is very likely to include Microsoft Edge, the new browser that’s going to be offered as default in Windows 10. Microsoft announced the name of the browser at BUILD 2015, so the existing Spartan app will be renamed Edge in the next Windows 10 build.

At the same time, expect new improvements here and there, as 10120 is very likely to be a more polished release, with new options in the PC settings screen that would allow you to configure some features of the operating system.

For instance, the Start menu could get closer to its final form, while users might get options to play with Windows Spotlight, the new lockscreen feature that could bring ads and app recommendations in Windows 10. These suggestions can be disabled in Windows 10, and the new build is very likely to include such options.

As far as the release date is concerned, Microsoft hasn’t said anything about it, but 10120 should ship by the end of the month. This week, the company is expected to introduce a new build of Windows 10 Mobile, so the PC version is highly unlikely to arrive at the same time as the phone release does.

Have been leaving my Lock Screen disabled (Windows 8.x) - would not be such a bad idea to disable the Windows 10 Lock Screen, as well. yXZVmpE.gif

@GRiM

" it's old news and build has already leaked."

Since its old news and it has already leaked why don't you post a D/L link so we can all enjoy this version.

Before the preview, they renamed Internet Explorer to Spartan,

On the preview, they renamed Spartan to Edge,

At RTM, Edge seems poised to be renamed to Internet Explorer. :P

I hope Microsoft won't release 10120 as the new preview :| it's buggy :| One more thing, in 10120 Edge is still called Spartan

Won't be because there's a 10123 out there.

Haha. On the PC, I probably wouldn't be caught dead using Microsoft's browser anyway. More interesting on mobile platform where the app selection is so poor and smaller selection of alternative web browsers.
