Reefa
Lots of creators accidentally stumble upon their greatest inventions, from potato chips to stainless steel. Now, while trying to develop a pair of protective surgery eyewear, a Berkeley laboratory has inadvertently created a solution for color blindness.Check out this video testimonial for the EnChroma CX functional eyewear for color blindness correction. There are multiple kinds of color blindness which leave victims with various ranges of colors they can perceive. For example, Marc Drucker has a genetic defect that pushes his red and green eye cones too close together muddying his vision of those spectrums. For him, traffic lights are especially challenging. However, while wearing the EnChroma CX sunglasses, Drucker can suddenly see the bright orange of a traffic cone or the individuals green leaves of a tree.“The glasses work by selectively removing certain wavelengths between the red and green cones that allow them to be in essence pushed apart again,” said Don McPherson, EnChroma’s VP of products in an interview with CBS. McPherson only learned about this potential use after a colorblind friend tried the glasses on and discovered the restorative effect. With this news, naturally EnChroma plans to keep manufacturing the sunglasses along with regular glasses with similar properties. So if you or anybody you know suffers from color blindness, head over to EnChroma’s website to purchase a pair. Maybe once enough of them get out there we can finally put this stupid blue/black/white/gold dress color Internet debate to rest. Enough is enough!http://www.geek.com/news/scientists-accidentally-invent-color-blindness-curing-glasses-1616749/
lurch234
I remember watching a documentary on accidental inventions which mentioned microwaves. At the time it was researched for radar and such. One day a researcher got close to a magnetronwhile having a chocolate bar in his vest pocket. He noticed it melted. He then tried out some popping corn and that's how microwave ovens came to be. dMog
almost everything one can find about these glasses is marketing in order to sell them.... in other words they certainly enhance colors for non colorblind eyes....but cure it for the colorblind...no way
mikie
I had a friend that was colorblind. Was a good guy.. sadly died alone and lost in the bushes, in a car crash. He always had some kind of pride to believe he could differentiate colors. He ran the retail shop for his dads business. His father would tell me that he thinks he sees colors and tries hard to be helpful, embarrassed to tell people he was color blind... and ask for help, but screws things up all the time because he is thinking the wrong color. All he saw was shades of gray I think. In the electrical business its tough to be color blind. Lots of wire colors :)I can imagine these glasses may make colors make colors more intense like some higher end sunglasses do for much less money - but only different intensities of the grays for the color blind. dMog
all the so called proof it works reads like an advertisement to sell them...not an iota of real proof...and i asked my eye doctor friend and he said if was really true they would offered by eye professionals on a world wide basis...not only sold on line....also..... read the fine print...it ain't real....totally agree with what mikie posted that these are just like the high end sunglasses that enhance color for the non color blind...if you are incapable of seeing color these glasses are not going to do anything but lighten your wallet

Administrator DKT27 Posted March 2, 2015 Administrator Share Posted March 2, 2015 From what I know, color blinds do not see things in grey or black and white. They however cannot differentiate between certain colors like green and red, blue and green and so on.

Achromatopsia is extremely rare, occuring only in approximately 1 person in 33,000 and its symptoms can make life very difficult. Usually someone with achromatopsia will need to wear dark glasses inside in normal light conditions.Types of Colour Blindness
