To no surprise, Windows 10 will support USB 3.1 Type-C, the latest USB spec that features a reversible connector and the OS will also support USB Dual Role too

From Neowin:

Microsoft has re-launched its WinHec conference and thanks to the agenda going live today, the event is offering a couple of new insights into Windows 10. If you are curious about the event or want to see all of the sessions being held at the conference, hit the source link below.

One of the sessions being held at WinHec is called 'Enabling New USB Connectivity Scenarios in Windows 10'. If you read into what will be talked about, it becomes clear that Windows 10, to no surprise, will support USB 3.1 Type-C and USB Dual Role.

I never heard of these two types of usb before? can someone shed some light on their benefits?

I think it's the reversible, smaller USB plug, so you don't have to try 3 times minimum to plug the thing in (the USB curse).
