You’ve seen amateur remakes of your favorite movie trailers. You’ve seen Lego remakes of your favorite movie trailers, and you’ve even seen 8-bit remakes of your favorite movie trailers. But this particularly remake of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer uses a trick you’ve probably never seen before.

Check out the teaser for the first in the new Star Wars trilogy redone entirely in neon.

In this video, YouTube user Neonardo recreates every shot in the Episode VII trailer as a flickering, moving neon picture. So now you can watch John Boyega stumbling in the desert in a Stormtrooper outfit, that little bouncing soccer ball droid BB-8, and the infamous crossguard lightsaber ignition as if they were glowing signs above a bar or a bowling alley.

Reducing the real images into minimalist colored outlines is a neat effect, like something out of fellow Disney sci-fi franchise Tron, and by the time the classic Star Wars logo appears virtually unchanged, suddenly its trademark font has even more resonance.

If you enjoy the style you’ll be glad to hear that Neonardo uses it for more than just Star Wars fan art. The UK-based digital artist’s YouTube channel features a showreel with neon remakes of everything from 60s Batman to Jurassic Park to Inception’s spinning top. Meanwhile, Neonardo’s online gallery showcases neon images from classic films like North by Northwest and more modern ones like a dancing neon baby Groot.

So the next time you’re looking for a snazzy visual remix of a hot new movie trailer, be on the lookout for Neonardo.
