Microsoft said to launch a wearable device very soon

A new rumor out today is saying that Microsoft will launch a wearable device within the next few weeks. This information lines up with previous rumors that said the company's wearable device would debut around the October timeframe.

The information comes from Forbes, who are still saying that the device, which will be a smartwatch, will boast battery life of more than two days under normal use. Additionally, the device will track your heart rate and work with multiple platforms too.

It's that second bit of information that we had heard before, and it makes a lot of sense. Seeing that Windows Phone doesn't have a large slice of the market, by making it work with all platforms, it opens up the device to millions of more users.

Like many recent Microsoft projects, the company is said to have reached across its engineering team to tap into internal expertise for the software that will be utilized.

The report states that optical engineers from the Kinect division, designers, and data scientists, have created a software that will be used for the device.

Wearables have become a big trend recently with the likes of Fitbits and Samsung’s Galaxy Gear watches making lots of noise in the emerging market. Apple has shown off its play for the wearable segment and there is another obvious player with Google Glass.

For Microsoft, this will not be their first attempt at a smartwatch; many years ago, the company had its SPOT (smart personal object technology) software built into the devices. While we expect a much more advanced user interface and more modern design with the new watch, the principles of the device remain largely unchanged.

While we wait to see what Microsoft has up its sleeve, according to this rumor, we shouldn't have to wait all that long.

Yeah, because Microsoft getting into tablets and a "unified" interface trying to be Apple, very late and after Apple and Android, went so well with Windows 8 and Surface

Someone should go over to redmond and tell them to stop smoking crack

Have they learned nothing form the whole Windows 8/ Surface debacle???

When will they get a clue?

Ill say it again, Microsoft youre a Desktop/Server OS company, thats it

Stop being dicks....or maybe losing billions is really in right now...

Problem is, Microsoft has always sucked at making things consumers want to use. Always has always will be. They tried every category we are lead to believe that Apple and Google are "creating", and created a pile of suck so awful nobody dared to try it again for almost a decade.

The original Tablet. Hey Big Businesses please buy Windows XP Professional Tablet PC CE 2003 SP12 R2, we have a giant inflexible heavy ass clunky "tablet" AKA heavy slow laptop with a touch screen jerry rigged in (that performs AWFUL).

Why do you want it? Because you'll make WAY more money if you can write on our crappy inaccurate screen with our crappy stylus and it takes just long as typing, and because please just buy our trash and we'll promise to polish the turd next time.

Yeah, MS has done Tablets, Phones, Smartwatches way before Apple and Google, and their products sucked so hard most people never knew, cared, or thought about buying them.

Please MS show us how you will beat the Apple Watch with the "Kin Watch", because you know that phone was just absolutely the best hardware you ever made.
