mona
It’s called the Microsoft Tech Support scam, and it’s been around for years. Last week, Emsisoft and Bleeping Computer intercepted one of these scammers, and in addition to messing with him for a good three hours, we took detailed notes on how the Microsoft Tech Support scam works.Someone calls you up, claiming to be from Microsoft, and scares you into thinking that your otherwise normally functioning PC is infected. If they scare you well enough, they’ll then connect you to a remote administration software that lets “their experts take a look at your PC.” From there, a number of bad things can happen, including malware installation, data theft, or simply more scare tactics, all in an attempt to sell you some expensive program that doesn’t work – or doesn’t even exist.People all across the world get contacted by Microsoft scammers every single day, and all too often they become victims.Read the whole article here : http://blog.emsisoft.com/2014/08/29/what-happens-when-a-tech-support-scammer-cold-calls-a-security-expert/?ref=newsbox_ticker140829&utm_source=software&utm_medium=newsbox&utm_content=ticker140829&utm_campaign=newsbox_ticker140829 :towel:

calguyhunk
I actually WANT for one of these mofos to tell me stuff like my computer is "sending error codes to the MS server" (what!!!) so that I could also mess with him, but seems like I'm not important enough for them to bug me. :( Oh well, I'll just deal with the Cialis and Viagra E-Mails for now LMFAO! :lmao:P.S. - Pretty sure Mr.Z was/is Indian. That's exactly how most young semi-educated Indians write English. The worst part is, they actually believe that it's cool. Blame it on our education system, or the SMS culture or maybe a bit of both. :P

Top Tucker commented the article on Emsisoft site :"Apparently this scam originates from India with some guy from Rajasthan spouting a lot of foul language. avmad
I get a lot of those calls. They say they are calling from Windows  Who the hell are Windows?I've messed with a few but not to that extent. One asked me to do something so he could see what OS I had. I did it but claimed it didn't say anything. He kept on going saying I was doing it wrong. Eventually I told him I was on Linux, and that he was a scammer. He had no idea what a scammer was so I explained it. He denied it of course.A quick way to get rid is to ask which computer, saying I have 5. Then they hang upI dont have a computer, got no internet or asking them how they would know has always caused them to hang up.Used to get about 2 calls a week, not so many nowdays. I bet there success rate is very low. :D

So we told the people if they were calling and starting to talk about Microsoft Windows to interrupt them immediately by telling them that we just installed triple glass windows against the airport noise so we don't need there service anymore. And it worked, they quickly hang up and never call back again because it's useless to talk to somebody who does not know what XP or WIN 7 is.
