IDM vs JDownloader, which is better?

player

Recommended Posts

personally only used JDownloader, used to be heavy downloader some years ago by leeching free premium accounts.

now i'm kinda moved by the heated discussion on IDM here

beside the obvious resource demanding downside and frequent update of JDownloader2 Beta,

what do u think is IDM's advantage over JD, and vice versa, eg. JD is freeware

actually IDM also as free sowftare for 30days trial with all they performance an capability..same as as IDM paid version me using both IDM 30days trial

and Jdownloader depend on necessity

deleting all IDM keys to get another 30days trial periode

or close to the end, or your IDM was Expired..

exit idm from system tray

run script...as in spoiler

run again IDM that's it

PS: On the latest Build IDM 6.20 Build 5 more terrific..IDM could updates in background..without permission...so
if you're using Hosts method ..to block IDM license verified..it's becomes useless..because IDM could writing your Hosts files
even you have make it as read ONLY.

conclusion:

nowadays don't waste your time and make headache, just two efective method firstly dcs18 method, secondly Patch exe..

@echo off::IDM leftovers cleaner, for all users who have problem with HOSTS methodtaskkill /F /IM IDMan.exe::modify permissions of keys (if exists) wich have priority over "regular" keys through which IDM do some checks and delete them@echo HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@echo HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} [7] >permdel.txt@regini permdel.txt@del permdel.txtreg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} /freg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} /freg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} /freg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C} /f::cleaning some IDM values responsible for fake serial problemsreg delete HKCU\Software\DownloadManager /v CheckUpdtVM /freg delete HKCU\Software\DownloadManager /v scansk /freg delete HKCU\Software\DownloadManager /v tvfrdt /f::cleaning some IDM "regular" CLSID subkeys which IDM will read if keys with priority not existsreg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{07999AC3-058B-40BF-984F-69EB1E554CA7} /freg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{6DDF00DB-1234-46EC-8356-27E7B2051192} /freg delete HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{D5B91409-A8CA-4973-9A0B-59F713D25671} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{07999AC3-058B-40BF-984F-69EB1E554CA7} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{6DDF00DB-1234-46EC-8356-27E7B2051192} /freg delete HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{D5B91409-A8CA-4973-9A0B-59F713D25671} /fexit

IDM vs JDownloader, which is better?

This one is a no-brainer. :tehe:

i had already read that by the time i started this thread. the vote result is *obvious win for IDM* but when i read the replies, which i believe provide more useful details(*1), the opinions varies, and so i posted here to ask for in-depth advices, with reasons.

(*1): u know, nsane provide great resource for warez, and IDM is paid software, thus forum attracts ppl who already are inclined to use IDM and looking for crack.

since forum does great jobs for that, they stayed. so there is a implicit biased population towards IDM.

even me is biased, since i only used JD i voted for it in the thread u mentioned.

so, if possible, please share solid comparison between the two.

eg. if u believe IDM use your full bandwidth, did u compared downloading with JD on same link/filehoster?

or did u just get discouraged to use JD shortly eg.

- hey it sux coz this file speed so slow i am switching back to IDM

- hell it keep on updating everytime i restart it and it's annoying

The vote ratio between IDM : JD is 129 : 8 - I am afraid . . . . . that is considerable, not trivial (actually a total washout for JDownloader):--

I would have to install JDownloader, (once again) for a technical neck-to-neck comparison against my already installed IDM.

damn, my bad english used wrong word. (in my maths class i often come across somethings which say "the proof is trivial" and i misinterpret it as "the proof is obvious", instead of checking dictionary that "trivial" means "not of value/important")

I would have to install JDownloader, (once again) for a technical neck-to-neck comparison against my already installed IDM.

anyway, ppl might not have used other download manager thoroughly b4 voting for IDM. that's why i bothered to ask...

I personally just use JDownloader thought version 0.9.581 doesn't support Java 8 and so gives you the annoying warning

box everytime you run it. I am sure development for JDownloader 1 version 0.9.581 has stopped now hasn't it?

I don`t use JDownloader version 2 because it is still in beta stages and has been for quite awhile now.

I am just waiting on them finally release a stable final build of JDownloader version 2 which

unfortunately doesn't look like this will happen anytime soon.

I use both. IDM is main every day download manager but if I'm downloading a large multi-part file from a free host, I use JDownloader.

In fact, I've already given IDM a brief try b4 starting this thread. (avoiding to bias the discussion with my own opinions)

To me, what's lacking in IDM is the link-parsing ability / cyberlocker-catered features in JD

eg. copy this link to clipboard / flashgot it, JD will parse it & show

JD2_1.png

----To clarify, this is the JDownloader2 Beta----

While unnecessary for direct links & small files, JD is a swiss knife to me who is once a heavy downloader,

providing abilities to divide & distribute download to different hosts, link-parsing / skipping AdFly etc

It just happened these days I've refrained from greedy downloading (game movie porn, yeah, what else could it be?)

So i am kinda out of touch and is so asking for advices here.

Now is sticking with DownThemAll for general link-grabbing and BT for softwares,

also GreaseMonkey helped a lot in fighting ads, so i am settled with the browser built-in downloader...

mind sharing how to configure IDM to grab the file host links? i can't seem to do it here, was using 6.20 build2 on FF

IDM just seem to download the html file but not grabbing the filehost link from it (i right click the hyperlink then choose download with IDM)

wait, did u manually select the final download link from browser? if so, forget me asking.

and I only use JD for several years now. tested IDM before, but in my experience it dont support so many hosting sites as JD. I remember that i tryed to d/l some files with IDM without success, but it worked with JD like a charm :)

An XP Diehard who thinks there is a better dlm than IDM?!? This thread is going to get alot of attention from a certain member! :)

While I prefer another dlm other than both IDM or jDownloader, if I had to choose between IDM or jDownloader, I would pick IDM.

hey hey don't flame the thread! :S i'm being rational here, just want to hear in-depth opinion--- best from users who used both IDM & JD

also i am not saying which is definitely better **hang i titled the thread so badly**

you can also see i named some shortcoming of JD. IMHO, it really depends on your download habit.. me used to leech filehost, so i chose JD

While this below was said as I know how strongly dcs18 feels about IDM (positively) and XP (negatively). :) No flaming involved.

Previously I used both together. JD2 for filesharing sites with a premium database.

IDM for everything else.

Since getting fibre optic internet I've no use for IDM. The browser downloads very fast so is fine most of the time. If it's a very large file I just use DownThemAll! Firefox addon.

Also use Newsbin Pro but that's a different kettle of fish -_-

I download a lot of ebooks and have a long list of them waiting in JDownloader most of the time and start JD when I want to.

Set both up to see which you prefer.

You can't really compare idm with jdownloader. IDM is to replace your browsers download manager with a better one, JDownloader is mostly used to download files from filesharing sites. JDownloader does much more than just downloading the files. It "automates" the download from filesharing sites without needing user interaction on the hoster website, while as IDM can't do shit with a hoster link. You can just copy links of 20 different hosters to jdownloader and it will download all files one by one, you don't even have to visit the site. And also JDownloader can manage all your premium accounts where IDM has lots of difficulties.

So really i don't understand why people love IDM so much, it seems to me that it is just useful to replace your browser download manager to improve dl speed and support pause etc.. But seriously how often do you download very large files from your browser? JDownloader is simply more than just a download manager, it is made for ppl who download a lot from filesharing hosters, it just safes you a lot of time.
