Alanon
oh and by the way no disrespect to avast i no now its a great antivirus.its just when i was using it it was still that ugly little grey box.with those horrible sounds.im out peace :PUgly little grey box ? haha :lol:It looked like Media Player to me :rofl:Ohh and sounds :oSirene and then "CAUTION A VIRUS HAS BEEN DETECTED !" Creepy stuff :DI still remember the first time hearing that on a friend's PC. Scared the hell out of me!Concerning Bit Defender, it went like a hog all over my PC when I attempted to try it out, quite recently. Installed Qihoo instead, which is possibly the lightest security app I have ever had running, and that's on an oooold setup. I suppose that it's the BD's firewall or HIPS features that slowed it for me, because Qihoo uses the bases only. :dunno: Edited August 24, 2013 by Alanon
Airstream_Bill
I dunno how so many people end up with so much malware on their PCs! In all these years I've been using PCs (Since '94; internet since '99) I've only once had malware and that too while using a $h!tty paid AV (Quick Heal) issued by my school! :angry:Since then and before that, I've only had free AVs - apart from my first PC for which I'd bought Norton 'cuz I didn't know any better LOL - but never ever have I got anything remotely malicious :DThey must not use, Bitdefender, Kaspersky or Norton I guess. Alanon
They must not use, Bitdefender, Kaspersky or Norton I guess. Ha ha haOr more likely install 324 anti-viruses, or turn the one they have off.

Holmes
You guys do realize bitdefender uses avast engine and mcafee since 1997 and a couple other antiviruses do to (F-secure and G DATA). It`s the first time that I hear such a stupid claim ...BitDefender is one company that uses it`s own anti-malware engine , like Kaspersky , ESET and Avast does .There are also a lot of companies that use rebranded engine from other vendors (Raxco , Auslogics ...) and others that use one or more engines from other vendors plus one or more engines developed in the house (F-Secure , GData , Qihoo , Baidu ...)This is your proof smart guy:McAfee uses avast! engineALWIL Software provides the avast! antivirus engine to McAfee, which licenses it for use in its own line of McAfee antivirus products – proving the effectiveness of avast! antivirus technologies with the "Powered by avast! engine" logo on the McAfee VirusScan boxes.Source - http://www.avast.com/en-us/about click on 1997 and thats my source not wikipedia and I didnt make it look like its my own I only forgot to put the quote in actual quotesThis happened in 1997 check there about us company page and click on 1997 if you dont believe me.I thought bitdefender used avast antivirus engine I looked at virus bulletin one day and I forgot what it said but I promise it said mcafee uses avast engine g data uses avast and bitdefender. When I find it again Ill post it.. Edited August 31, 2013 by Holmes

When I find it again Ill post it..Please do include the source of your quote. In this case, it's Wikipedia ;) It's not a question of believing or not believing you. You just copied and pasted from Wikipedia and forgot to mention that. (Of course you changed the tense to make it seem like your own)"1997 – ALWIL Software provided the Avast! antivirus engine to McAfee, which licensed it for use in its own line of McAfee antivirus products with the "Powered by Avast! engine" logo on the McAfee VirusScan boxes. Also, ALWIL hired its first tech-support specialist, Pavel Mourek."In any case, your previous assertion was wrong. It's McAfee that uses Avast! Not BitDefender. :spank:BitDefender use their own engine. Other companies like Emsisoft, Bullguard, Iobit, Lavasoft, Auslogics, F-Secure amongst many others also use the famed BD engine for their Anti-Malware products either by itself or in conjunction with their own or even another vendor's product/signatures under license. :) Edited August 29, 2013 by calguyhunk

Like I said if avast closed it's door's tomorrow and I got forced to choose a different antivirus I choose kasparsky (there kinda ahead in the game) but they lack what avast doesnt boot-time scan and antirootkit technology used in gmer (gmer is the best anomaly based detection software) (source for gmer information is this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/gg618529.aspx). That link is a video watch all of it very good watch and you are going to learn alot about sysinternals tools and antirootkit programs and about rootkits in general and yes your all very welcome. I dont know what radix is yet but its very good.. Edited August 31, 2013 by Holmes
