nsane.forums Posted April 5, 2012 Share Posted April 5, 2012 A recent survey suggests that rich smartphone users prefer using Apple's iPhone and tend to shy away from playing games or tweeting on their phones. Thought that all smartphone users were alike? Think again, according to a recent survey, which suggests that American users with an annual income of over $150,000 are less likely to tweet and play games. The survey, which was conducted by the Luxury Institute, also found that Apple's iPhone was the most popular choice for rich users with a share of 45%. Google's Android came in second at 35% and BlackBerry at 25%. The trends for downloading apps amongst the wealthy appear to focus more on news and business oriented applications rather than traditional games and social networking. The Facebook app still comes out on top though, being the most popular and favourited app by wealthy users. Previous reports show the smartphone marketshare to put Android clearly in the lead with 48% and the iPhone at 32%, which Jonathan Carson, CEO of Nielson puts down to the fact that Google uses external manufacturers. By doing so, it creates a greater product range which offers realistic options for those with less cash to spend. What's interesting to note is that from the survey figures that only 62% of wealthy Americans actually own a smartphone but then they found the age range of wealthy Americans in general to be over 50. This should not surprise many, as it takes time to climb the corporate ladder and bring in the big bucks, recent graduates rarely receive that kind of compensation.
