Last suggestion..sorry :)

Also, EagleGet is a very good download manager, I've ditched IDM and FDM for it.

Yes EagleGet is truly a good download manager (considering the fact that it's freeware,) I'd deployed it to all my client machines after (most) firewalls could no longer prevent IDM from calling home — but no, it's not good enough to displace my copy of IDM.

There's another free download manager though, that does come close to displacing my IDM — observant Users might spot it on my first screenshot.

This is a really interesting thing. I'm personally looking after adding one more download manager on FP from some time now. This is due to the fact that we needed to remove one of them from the FP due to this. Since then we have been looking into adding a download manager, preferably freeware. We are confused about the one you are recommending and this one. We are not wanting the second one as it's not free and the first one we heard was not being updated from some time now - wondering whether it's still being developed by the developer. But just checking it shows that it was recently updated, so we will look into it.

We will have to properly test it before frontpaging it, so it will take some time though.

I too thought maybe it was no longer in development as it was last updated in July 2017, I think, when I started using it - but I didn't have any issues because of this.  Then, one day I randomly decided to check for an update, and what do you know, an update (March 2018)!

I wasn't aware you guys have LAME listed on nsanedown, which is also outdated, current release is 3.100.

My favorite player, foobar2000, the website support https, maybe you could consider to change it, also the description is a bit wrong, especially built-in support part, homepage is good reference.

With this same occasion, I want to recommend some software that you could consider to be added on nsanedown, some of them are HexChat, XnView MP, uGet.

Personally I'm looking more for good freeware, especially cross-platform software, moreover open-source. Regards.:)

Thanks for the information. I have let the frontpage staff know about it.

Changed to HTTPS. I see no problem in the build in support part. See supported audio formats here. Only thing I do not see mentioned there is MPC that we mention in the description.

I do think you have recommended them before too - correct me if wrong. As for Hexchat, no idea - do people still use that protocol. Come to think of it, I'm wondering, why have not we listed Discord yet. As for other softwares you have recommended, why do you suggest MP over the classic version. As for uGet, looks good, but is it good on Windows as it's good on Linux, also, does it get online video links and how does it compare with it's rivals.

Wait a little. I remember something. You noticed the logo of it changing recently. It seems that the original developer of this software has sold it to someone else. Not only that, there have been allegations that the new developer is bundling badware, including miners in it. Here is more information on it. The thing I have linked is different from the original place from where I got this information, who's source I cannot find right now. I do not think we can list it on FP here.

VOC, Monkey's Audio, TFMX, SPC; I don't see them as built-in format supported. Maybe I don't get the definition what built-in is but yes, they're not in natively supported. Between RAR and 7-Zip should be ",", not ";".

Yeah, probably, I forget. :) It's time to cleanup nsanedown from some outdated softwares

About XnViewMP, it's said as successor, enhanced version for XnView (at least thats what the website said). I think when time comes, it will take over the Classic.

About uGet, it's good on Windows. Unfortunately I haven't yet test online video feature though recently it just added support downloading from YouTube and MEGA. It has more cons, regarding online video and browser integration, other than that it's good. Yeah, I think lets forget this one. sorry

I see. Good suggestion. I fixed all of it.

If you guys notice any outdated software then do let us know about it. We are working to replace them. Absolutely nothing wrong in reminding us 2-3 times about new or outdated softwares to list or remove. We have a big list of softwares to deal with and it's easy to forget or get unnoticed, so nothing wrong in reminding again.

I think we will stick to the basic one for now. Maybe decide on the MP later. Anyway, I have added portable links to all of them on the listing.

I see. No problem. Inspite of all the issues, it does look good to to me here. We can surely look into it.

Hmmm, Yeah, this does seem to be the case.  I only noticed it recently, but didn't think too much of it, except I said not to use my resources.  EagleGet is really working well, but oh well, I will look elsewhere.

While not outdated, someone did mention that LAME has a new release out not yet reflecting on nsane.

Gosh, either it was changed right away or I'm going mad. :)

For now that download manager is out of consideration. We are still looking at other options, uGet does look good, but needs extensive testing and feedback on it. No other freeware seem worth looking into right now.

Yes, anuraag fixed it. As it's not an new update, no frontpage post has been made for it.

Well, I'm going to try out this Ant Download Manager myself and see how it is.

Here's a link.

Site: http://snowfiles.com

Sharecode: /e2ugurgjirc5

Just read Note.txt, patch worked fine for me on 2nd try.

Hmm, not capturing any downloads - looks like I may need to delve deeper on this one...bad start.

Probably just some IDM interference. IDM uninstalled and now working. Caught 1 download, now chrome doing the rest.. meh.

Thanks for taking time to test it. Helps us understand them.

I for one am quite interested in uGet that rach has suggested. But it probably needs addon to work, which is not an big issue as long as addon is regularly updated though.

Updated the qBittorrent description and logo - the new logo may take some time to be shown though, if it does not do within a day, please let me know about it. Also fixed the download links.

For the others, @anuraag will need to look into it.

Suggestion for FP, following from this thread:

Evorim Free Firewall, excellent and easy to use: http://www.evorim.com/en/free-firewall

I have been using it form the early days when it was first released. It is very easy to use and configure.

I cannot recommend it highly enough

Can we impose Groups Daily Posts/Thread Limits on members..

Certain individuals are obviously spamming the forums to jack up their post count.. If not number, just limit the frequency per post.

Hard to find useful stuff if all you see is trashy comments..

If we have individual IGNORE filters can it also apply not to show them on recent activity

FOR ADMINS: IS THERE ANYWAY TO DEACTIVATE LIVE LINK SITE COMPONENT  when you  SHARECODE ON THE THE FORUM?

Causing problems with sites like zippyshare with multi-prefixed servers

example

Site: https://www107.zippyshare.com
Sharecode: /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html

Site part becomes live when pasted as is from

https://www.nsaneforums.com/sharecode/sharecode.html

Only workaround is to paste as plain text after copying from the generator page

Site: https://www107.zippyshare.com
Sharecode: /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html

Is there a way to make the this automatic from the sharecode generator app? If the generator app just generates plain text and no formatting , maybe it would work (unsure about this)

Explained Below:

Quote

Typical Noobie  error

e.g.  Site: https://www107.zippyshare.com Sharecode: /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html

  • They click the live  link first which is  https://www107.zippyshare.com then press enter
  • Browser will redirect then to  https://www.zippyshare.com/
  • then append the sharecode: /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html result https://www.zippyshare.com/v/kLhVwI6c/file.html (which is wrong)

This is probably the fault of the forum software parsing HTML LINKS as live links

What i now do is do a reverse Copy and Paste operation:

paste Sharecode first (do not press enter)   /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html

Copy Site, go to URL tab press home paste Site  https://www107.zippyshare.com

Only then do i paste enter

As content creators how can we help?

After converting you URL to SHARECODE in https://www.nsaneforums.com/sharecode/sharecode.html

By  pasting sharecode  section as as plain text to prevent parsing: Then format it to your heart's desire.

See below no live link?

Site: https://www107.zippyshare.com

Sharecode: /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html

Or encapsulating our shares in a codebox

Site: https://www107.zippyshare.com
Sharecode: /v/kLhVwI6c/file.html

While I like that host quite a lot, the said issue with it has been since the start.

I personally believe it's the uploader's responsibility to either leave a message about it or use the code box as you mentioned there.
