nsane.forums Posted March 13, 2012 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Samsung has announced that it has begun updating a number of its Galaxy S II smartphones to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in a number of countries. The UK will get the update March 19th. It looks like Samsung has finally begun the process of updating at least some of its Galaxy S II smartphones to Android 4.0. While the company denied a previous report that said the global version of the smartphones would get the Ice Cream Sandwich update on March 10th, this week the company's official Facebook page has indeed confirmed that the update is rolling out in some countries around the world. In its statement, Samsung said: We're thrilled to announce that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be served to GALAXY S II users in the European countries including Poland, Hungary and Sweden, as well as Korea today, and gradually roll out to other markets. The message also stated that Ice Cream Sandwich would be made available "soon" for a number of other Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy S II LTE, and the 8.9 and 10.1 versions of the Galaxy Tab tablet product. As usual with these kinds of operating system updates, the schedule will vary by both country and by wireless carrier. It's currently unknown when the US versions of the Galaxy S II, offered by Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile, will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.
